Sometimes leaders need somewhere to think
Leadership can be isolating.
Book a Leadership Conversation
The more senior you become, the fewer places there are where you can speak openly about what is really happening, test your thinking, acknowledge uncertainty or explore the decisions you are facing without feeling that you should already have the answers.
EmpathyWorks provides confidential, challenging and supportive one-to-one coaching for leaders who want to understand themselves better, strengthen their leadership and navigate the realities of leading people and organisations.
Our coaching is not about telling you how to lead.
It is about creating the space to think differently, challenging assumptions, recognising patterns and helping you translate insight into practical changes in the way you lead.
We combine reflective conversation with our Leadership Diagnostic Assessment, evidence-based approaches and extensive real-world leadership experience. Where appropriate, we will challenge you directly. Where you need space, we will listen. And throughout the relationship, the focus remains on helping you become the leader you want and need to be.
Leadership development should be personal, practical and relevant to the challenges you are actually facing.
Who we coach
We work with leaders at different stages of their leadership journey, from people stepping into significant leadership responsibility for the first time to experienced senior leaders carrying considerable organisational responsibility.
You may be:
- Taking on a new or more demanding leadership role.
- Leading through significant change, uncertainty or organisational pressure.
- Managing difficult relationships, behaviours or performance issues.
- Trying to build greater confidence and clarity in your leadership.
- Feeling isolated in a senior position and wanting a confidential space in which to think.
- Seeking greater self-awareness and a deeper understanding of the impact you have on others.
- Preparing for the next stage of your career or a significant professional challenge.
- Performing well, but recognising that you still want to become a better leader.
You do not need to be struggling to benefit from coaching. Some of the most valuable leadership development happens when good leaders deliberately create the time and space to understand themselves, challenge their thinking and continue to grow.
Our coaching is always shaped around the individual. We start with the leader, their context and the challenges they are actually facing, rather than trying to fit people into a predetermined programme.
How our coaching works
Every leader is different, so every coaching relationship should be different too.
We don't begin with a predetermined programme or assume we already know what you need. We begin by understanding you, your leadership context, the challenges you are facing and what you want to achieve.
Leadership Diagnostic Assessment
Where appropriate, the coaching journey begins with our Leadership Diagnostic Assessment, designed to create a deeper understanding of how you lead.
Rather than simply identifying strengths and weaknesses, the assessment helps us explore patterns, behaviours, relationships, confidence, decision-making and the impact your leadership may have on the people around you.
The result is a richer starting point for the coaching relationship and a clearer understanding of where development could have the greatest impact.
Ways to work with us
Leadership coaching should reflect what you need, not how many sessions happen to be in a package.
Some leaders come to EmpathyWorks with a specific challenge they want to work through. Others are looking for a deeper period of leadership development, with time to understand themselves, test new approaches and make meaningful changes to the way they lead.
We therefore offer different ways to work with us.
Individual Leadership Coaching
Focused one-to-one coaching for leaders who want confidential space to explore a particular challenge, decision or area of their leadership.
This might involve navigating a difficult relationship, preparing for an important conversation, dealing with organisational pressure, stepping into greater responsibility or simply creating the space to think more clearly.
Bespoke Leadership Coaching Programme
A structured coaching relationship developed around you and your leadership goals.
Rather than following a generic sequence of topics, we agree the areas that matter most and use the coaching relationship to explore them in depth.
Your programme can incorporate our Leadership Diagnostic Assessment, Leadership Discovery, regular one-to-one coaching and practical leadership challenges between sessions.
Executive Leadership Development
For senior and executive leaders who want to take a deeper look at their leadership, impact and future development.
This is our most comprehensive individual leadership offer, bringing together diagnostic assessment, in-depth Leadership Discovery, bespoke coaching and practical application.
The process is designed to move beyond simply addressing an immediate leadership challenge. It creates the opportunity to understand how you lead, what has shaped you, the impact you have on others and the kind of leader you want to become.
Where appropriate, the journey culminates in a Personal Leadership Blueprint, capturing the insights, behaviours and commitments you want to carry forward.
Not sure which approach is right for you?
You don't need to decide before speaking to us.
Start with a conversation about what is happening, what you want to achieve and where you believe your leadership could develop.
From there, we can decide together whether coaching is the right approach and what that support should look like.
Leadership Discovery
Your diagnostic and initial conversations inform a dedicated Leadership Discovery session.
This is an opportunity to step away from the day-to-day demands of leadership and look more deeply at you as a leader: what is working, what may be getting in your way, the challenges you are facing and what you want to change.
Together, we identify the areas that matter most and agree the focus for your coaching.
Bespoke One-to-One Coaching
From there, the coaching is built around you.
Sessions combine reflection, challenge, practical leadership thinking and real situations from your working life. There is no requirement to wait until the next session to discuss something important simply because it doesn't fit a predetermined module.
Your real leadership challenges become part of the work.
Turning insight into action
Coaching should ultimately change something.
Throughout the relationship, we help you translate reflection and insight into practical leadership behaviours, decisions and actions that can be applied in the real world.
Where appropriate, this culminates in a Personal Leadership Blueprint: a practical articulation of the leader you want to be, the behaviours you want to strengthen and the commitments you want to carry forward.
The objective isn't simply to have better conversations about leadership. It is to become a better leader because of them.
What you can expect from us
Good coaching requires trust, honesty and the willingness to have conversations that genuinely matter.
When you work with EmpathyWorks, you can expect a confidential space where you can speak openly about the realities of leadership, including the things you may not feel able to discuss elsewhere.
You can also expect to be challenged.
Our role is not simply to agree with you or reinforce what you already believe. We will ask questions, explore assumptions and, where necessary, respectfully challenge your thinking, behaviours and the impact you may be having on others.
At the same time, coaching should never feel like judgement. Leadership is complex, people are complex, and even experienced leaders get things wrong. What matters is having the curiosity and courage to understand what happened, learn from it and decide what you want to do differently.
Our coaching combines:
- Confidentiality — a trusted space to speak openly and think honestly.
- Challenge — questions and conversations that encourage deeper reflection.
- Humanity — understanding the person behind the leadership role.
- Experience — practical insight grounded in the realities of leading people and organisations.
- Evidence — leadership thinking informed by research, learning and professional practice.
- Application — a clear focus on turning insight into action in the real world.
We will listen carefully. We will challenge when challenge is needed. We will support you to find your own answers rather than pretending we have all of them.
And we will always keep sight of what matters most: helping you lead well when leadership is difficult.
